Recap: Visual Art Department Chicago Trip

On March 23 thirty Visual Art Department students loaded up in a bus and took a trip to Chicago to explore the Museum of Contemporary Art and gallery district.  The trip was sponsored by the Visual Art Department and was open to anyone in the program, so long as they paid $6 for museum admission.

Students explored the museum for about two hours and then were allotted three hours for the gallery district.  Many of the pieces in the museum revolved around the era of the 80's and included themes such as gender roles, the nuclear family, and politics.

Galleries in the district contained more formal types of art such as oil paintings and glassware.  Interesting spaces and layouts gave students more of a perspective of gallery life in Chicago.  Smaller galleries also offered more networking opportunities.

A special thanks goes to the department who sponsored the trip, Shana and Teri for attending, and Riteway for providing the transportation!
