Have You Heard of ARTMKE?

ART Milwaukee is a local organization dedicated to artists and their practice; the organization hosts events to fundraise for art programs in communities, supply internships (or as they say "arternships") for aspiring artists, and help artists find jobs in the community.

According to ART Milwaukee's vision:
- We recognize that art comes in many mediums and we must create an infrastructure in which all forms are recognized and appreciated.
- Art is valuable to all members of our community.
- Provide our community with multiple avenues to experience art.
- Build strong, mutually beneficial, long-term relationships between artists and art enthusiasts.
- Enlighten businesses on the value of supporting local artists.
- Ensure the sustainability of Milwaukee’s art scene by promoting emerging artists and providing art education and programming services to all ages.
- Support local businesses by utilization of their products, establishments and provide them with experiential marketing.
- Offer our community a medium to learn about art and encourage them to participate.

This organization is one of the greatest current examples of people coming together and providing their talents in order to knit the community closer together.  And judging from their calender, we don't think that they're going to be fading out any time soon!

Go ahead and check out their site, find an event to attend, and let us know how it was!  We're thinking about the MAM After Dark: Mardi Gras event... what about you?
